After attending a DNA training in Puerto Rico on the kingdom of God and the Church’s role in it, musical artist Crystal Velez was inspired to write a powerful song called “Wake Up.”

“This song is a call for the Church to wake up and continue to persevere in bringing the Kingdom of God, as beauty, truth, justice, and life are imparted into society,” says Crystal. “My prayer is that this song would cause an awakening in people’s hearts as they see the world through the eyes of Truth, knowing that we are empowered by His Spirit to arise and collaborate with the work God is doing today throughout the world.”

Crystal was a student of Youth with a Mission’s Discipleship Training School when she attended a DNA training and wrote this song, and her current pursuits include a bachelor’s degree in music business from Southeastern University in Florida. She also works with children and youth at her local church.

“We are not where we should be as the Church,” Crystal says. “Many times, the Church has settled in its comfort zone, neglecting the responsibility that Christ has given us, thereby not aiming towards His ultimate plan. God gave me a deep burden for the world which, as scriptures say, eagerly awaits for the revelation of God’s children.”

Art can be a powerful way to influence culture and share about God’s love. Here are a few other examples of DNA friends and partners using their artistic talent to build God’s kingdom:

Song Lyrics (English & Spanish)

Wake up!
¡Despierta!

There’s a voice that cries out for love
Hay una voz que clama por amor

There’s a voice that cries out for truth
Hay una voz que clama por Verdad

There’s a voice that cries out for hope
Hay una voz que clama por esperanza

There’s a voice that cries out for you
Hay una voz que clama por ti

Wake up! Where have you been when I most need you?
¡Despierta! ¿Dónde has estado cuando mas te he necesitado?

Questions in need of answers
Preguntas que necesitan respuestas

Lies in need of One Truth
Mentiras en búsqueda de una verdad

Wake up! There’s so much to do and so little time.
¡Despierta! Hay tanto que hacer y tan poco tiempo

So arise, open your eyes to something new
Así que levántate,
abre tus ojos a algo nuevo

Created to create and beauty
innovate
Creado para crear y traer belleza innovadora

In justice and in truth. In Him I am made new
En justicia y en verdad, en El soy hecha nueva

There’s so much more to life than just to live
La vida es mas que solo vivir

You’re not doing your job if you don’t give
No estas haciendo tu trabajo si no das

Would you just open your eyes and see the bigger picture?
¿Y qué si abres tus ojos para que veas el cuadro mayor?

Because nothing in this world will change if that is what you think or say
Porque nada en este mundo cambiará si eso es lo que piensas y dices

Wake up! Where have you been when I most need you?
¡Despierta! ¿Dónde has estado cuando mas te he necesitado?

Questions in need of answers
Preguntas que necesitan respuestas

Lies in need of One Truth
Mentiras en búsqueda de una verdad

Wake up! There’s so much to do and so little time.
¡Despierta! Hay tanto que hacer y tan poco tiempo

So arise, open your eyes to something new
Así que levántate,
abre tus ojos a algo nuevo

It’s our time to arise
Es el tiempo de levantarnos

Let your Kingdom come
Que venga Tu Reino

Blind eyes are open
Los ojos ciegos se abren

Strongholds are broken
Cadenas se rompen

Bringing beauty, truth, justice and life
Trayendo belleza, verdad, justicia y vida

Wake up! Where have you been when I most need you?
¡Despierta! ¿Dónde has estado cuando mas te he necesitado?

Questions in need of answers
Preguntas que necesitan respuestas

Lies in need of One Truth
Mentiras en búsqueda de una verdad

Wake up! There’s so much to do and so little time.
¡Despierta! Hay tanto que hacer y tan poco tiempo

So arise, open your eyes to something new
Así que levántate,
abre tus ojos a algo nuevo

There’s a voice that cries out for you.
Hay una voz que clama por ti.

Fighting Shadows with Jon Tyson

Today, as men, we need to do more than understand the largely lost concept of biblical masculinity. We need freedom. Most men are trapped by “shadows” or lies and have a difficult time expressing vulnerability, making us familiar with the grip of isolation and loneliness. This is not the life God intended. Today, we had the honor of sitting down with author and pastor Jon Tyson to hear about his upcoming book, Fighting Shadows: Overcoming 7 Lies that Keep Men from Becoming Fully Alive, which he co-authored with Jeff Bethke. This discussion will touch everyone as we shed light on these crucial lies, explore how they can be overcome, and joyfully do our best to present a better vision for masculinity that is oriented around our Lord and Savior.

The Gospel Has No Significance for Society

Christian nationalism was recently denounced by John MacArthur as a faulty viewpoint. He says things will get continually worse on Earth. Unfortunately, this view cultivates apathy and even discourages cultural influence. In contrast to this view, Christ teaches us to pray: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” If things will only get worse, then what was the justification for the profoundly positive influence of Christian leaders like William Wilberforce? And why should we, as Christians, work to eradicate slavery, human trafficking, and abortion? Wherever God has placed you, whether in a family, school, political office, or bakery, you are called to faithfully represent Christ and His Kingdom in everything you do. It’s time for a faith that is active, not passive, in the face of challenges.
