There is a lot of discussion right now in the Western evangelicalism around “social justice.” It is something that we’ve done a lot of thinking about here in the DNA office. In fact, we wrote a book on this topic, Rethinking Social Justice: Restoring Biblical Compassion.

Last year, The Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel was released by a number of prominent evangelicals, notably John MacArthur and Voddie Baucham. Since its release, several colleagues and friends have asked Darrow and Scott for their thoughts regarding the statement and whether it’s something they should get behind.

In response, Scott wrote an article titled “History Repeats Itself” where he shares his reaction to the statement and what’s going on right now around this rubric of social justice. The article was recently published in World Magazine’s online edition.

In the article, Scott draws a parallel between what’s happening now with evangelical social justice movement and what happened in the evangelical church 100 years ago with the “social gospel movement.” We hope you’ll read it and let us know your thoughts!

You can find “History Repeats Itself” in its entirety here.
