Darrow Miller discusses how the Church was affected by the increasingly dominant secular worldview in the West. Some church leaders sought to adapt to the reigning secular worldview; others reacted against it in a desire to hold on to the fundamentals of the faith. In doing so, they backed into an ancient heresy known as gnosticism in which reality is divided into sacred and secular categories. Today, this “evangelical gnosticism” has replaced the Biblical worldview in churches around the world, with tragic consequences for the Church and her mission in the world.
