Restoring the streets in Pakistan–results from a Vision Conference

“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
    and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
    Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
-Isaiah 58:12

Pak street 1In a small village near Faisalabad, Hasan* and his wife run a physiotherapy center for physically challenged people in their area. Most residents in the neighborhood are uneducated and from a low-income class, and people had not been caring for each other or working together as a community.

In February 2014, Hasan attended a training of local pastors and lay leaders led by the Pakistani team of AsiaCMS, the DNA’s partners in Pakistan. He learned about the Church’s call to serve others, and he began to wonder how to show practical love to the neighbors in his distressed community.

After the training, Hasan shared what he had learned with his neighbors, and a few of them decided to work together to clean the soiled streets and repair the broken sewers that were overflowing smelly water and waste. Many onlookers in the neighborhood noticed this sacrificial act of service and now realize they can work together to make their community a better place for their children.
