Paganism, with its corruption of human sexuality, is an ancient religion. The Jews confronted it in Canaan, and the Christian gospel encountered and challenged it all over Europe. In fact, the influence of Christianity, wherever it impacted heart and mind, brought an exalted understanding of God and human dignity, including the dignity of women. Christianity, like Judaism before it, restored a biblical view and practice of sex, marriage, and the family.
Romans 1:18-32 is a central text in Christian thought regarding the nature and source of pagan sexuality. Given the re-emergence of paganism today, a good grasp of Paul’s clear teaching here is essential for every Christ follower.
